Adelphia Coliseum Football Game Traffic & Parking Information
November 20, 2000 | General
Fans attending Saturday's football game between Vanderbilt and Tennessee in Adelphia Coliseum need to be very aware of the traffic and parking plan surrounding the downtown Nashville stadium.
Virtually the same traffic plan will be used for this game as for Tennessee Titans games. The traffic flow allows no deviation so each driver needs to know how to get to the stadium. Fans should allow some extra time in planning their arrival.
For fans with a game parking permit, it is essential to follow the directions clearly defined on the back of each permit.
For fans seeking public parking, they must enter the downtown area from the west. Broadway, Church, Demonbreun or Charlotte are the main entry arteries. Upon entering downtown, there are a number of city parking garages. At this point, fans can either take a shuttle or walk across the Woodland Street Bridge to the stadium. The bridge is closed except for pedestrian traffic.
The Metro Transit Authority will provide many shuttles beginning two hours before kickoff that will cost fans from $4-$7 depending upon the location. In the only deviation from the Titans shuttle system, there will not be shuttles available from area shopping malls.
Shuttles will run from the parking lot southwest of Vanderbilt Stadium on Natchez Trace, Riverfront Park, Nance Landport on Demonbreun Street, Municipal Auditorium at James Robertson and Gay Street and the state parking lots at 4th and Harris and 10th and Charlotte.
Officials say that if these traffic flows are followed, entry and exit are relatively easy. They note, as an example, that fans driving straight to last year's Music City Bowl who were unaware of one-way streets caused traffic tie-ups.
The parking lots open at 11:30 a.m. and gates to Adelphia Coliseum open at 12:30. Kickoff is 2:30 p.m. (Central)
