Vols Hold Off Cincinnati, 5-2

Chris Burke went 3-for-4 and scored two runs to help lead the Tennessee Volunteers to a 5-2 win over the Cincinnati Bearcats on Wednesday night.
The Volunteers improved their season record to 22-6 while dropping Cincinnati to 15-4 on the year. The win marked Tennessee's fifth straight since a 14-0 decision over Arkansas on March 12.
The Vols jumped out to an early first inning lead after Cincinnati pitcher Kenny Fields sent a wild pitch over the head of Nathan Fish that scored Chris Burke to give Tennessee a 1-0 lead.
The Bearcats battled back in the top of the third after center fielder Anthony Snowell hit a two RBI single that scored two runs giving Cincinnati the 2-1 lead. The Vols answered back in their half of the third when Chris Burke hit a RBI single that scored Ryan Case to put Tennessee back in the lead. The Vols got one more run in the third plus one in the sixth and eighth to seal the win.
Freshman Brandon Crowe took the win for the Volunteers and is now 2-0 on the season. Kenny Fields took the loss for Cincinnati and is now 1-1 on the year. Tennessee and Cincinnati will complete the two-game series tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
