Baseball Vols Gain Transfer

Head coach Rod Delmonico announced the signing of Alejandro Suarez from Florida International University.
Suarez, a freshman outfielder for the Panthers this last season, hit .326 with 12 doubles, two triples, three home runs and 27 RBI in 47 games. He made 34 starts, including 28 in the outfield as FIU went 41-20 advancing to the Gainesville (Fla.) Regional.
The projected right fielder for the Vols in 2003, recorded a 13-game hitting streak while stealing 10 bases.
