Tennessee assistant baseball coaches Larry Simcox and Mike Bell joined student-athletes J.P. Arencibia, Julio Borbon, Ty Pryor, Zach Gosselin, Brian Van Kirk, Cody Brown, Ryne Simpson and Jarred Frazier Monday night in an effort to assist the Manna Food Pantry in time for the Thanksgiving Day rush.
The Vols baseball contingent met at a local Food City grocery store and shopped for traditional holiday food staples and then met at the Manna Food Pantry on Kingston Pike in West Knoxville to unload the food and help stock the shelves.
Each year in November the baseball team takes up a collection to assist a local agency with its holiday food drive. Last year the team donated to the Mission of Hope and then made a trip to an agency recipient, the Oneida Food Pantry, to assist in handing out food to those in need of assistance.
