Fred Smithwick from the sport of men's basketball headline 61 University of Tennessee student-athletes taking part in commencement Saturday inside Thompson-Boling Arena. Ceremonies begin at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time.
Thirty-four men and 27 women make up the 2005 spring graduation list out of an estimated 3,079 UT undergraduate and graduate students receiving degrees. Former U.S. Senator Howard H. Baker Jr. will address the graduates and UT will award him its first honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters.
In addition to football and track, baseball has four representatives, while three golfers, two from the swimming and diving squad and one basketball team member round out the men's list.
The men's student-athlete spring graduation roll (with majors) is as follows:
Basketball -- Fred Smithwick (sport management).
Baseball -- Joey Andrews (marketing), Trey Bridges (sport management), Beau Massey (sport management) and Jimbo Watson (psychology).
Football -- Robert Boulware (economics), Dustin Colquitt (political science), Jomo Fagan (psychology), C.J. Fayton (sport management), Richie Gandy (sport management), John Henderson (sport management), Scott Newsome (political science), Chuck Prugh (business studies), Chavis Smith (urban studies), Sam Wantland (history), Robert Williams (political science) and Tyler Williams (broadcasting).
Golf -- John Scott Rattan (psychology), Chris Robinson (classical civilizations) and Brandon Skeen (accounting).
Swimming and Diving -- Jamie Graves (psychology) and Paulo Muchado (logistics and transportation).
