The Tennessee men's golf team finished ninth at the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational Sunday, played at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga. The Vols had a team scorecard of 297-279-301--877.
Leading the way for the Volunteers was sophomore Charles Ford. Ford shot a final round 5-over-par. He would finish the tournament at 3-over-par and tied for 19th.
Senior Lloyd Campbell and sophomore Jonathan Mount were next for the Big Orange. Campbell shot a final round 3-over-par to finish with a scorecard of 75-70-75--220. Mount also fired a 3-over-par 75 in the third round. Both would finish at 4-over-par for the tournament placing them in a tie for 25th.
Georgia native Ben Spickard finished the tournament at 7-over-par, with a scorecard of 72-76-75--223. Spickard finished tied for 40th.
Sophomore Philip Pettitt rounded out the Tennessee lineup. In the final round Pettitt repeated his first round score of a 4-over-par 76. His scorecard of 76-72-76--224 put him in a tie for 44th.
North Carolina won the team championship with a 7-under-par team score of 857. Florida finished in second, two strokes behind at 5-under-par. Kentucky had a team score of 865 to round out the top three.
Michigan State's Matt Harmon retained his day-one lead and took home the individual championship. He went 9-under-par for the tournament. In second place was North Carolina's Robert Riesen, at 7-under-par. Kentucky's Brad Doster, NC State's Stephen Lewton and Augusta's Major Manning, finished at 5-under and tied for third.
The Volunteers next compete Saturday and Sunday, April 1-2 at the Augusta State Invitational in Augusta, Ga.
