VOLS JUMP TO FOURTH AT CARPET CAPITAL COLLEGIATE

The Tennessee men's golf team jumped five spots to sit in fourth place after the second round at the Carpet Capital Collegiate in Dalton, Ga. The Vols fired a 281 to stand at 5-under-par for the tournament.
Senior Tino Weiss posted another good round and found himself in the top 10. A 2-under-par 70 in the second round put him at 3-under-par for the tournament and tied for 10th.
Junior Charlie Ford posted the best round of the day for the Big Orange. Ford carded a 3-under-par 69 and finds himself tied for 25th place.
Georgia native Ben Spickard is also in 25th place after two rounds. The junior went even-par in his second round to stand with a scorecard of 71-72--143 for the tournament.
Next for the Tennessee is Murfressboro native Philip Pettitt. Pettitt fired a second round 2-under-par 70, improving on his first round by four strokes. He ended the day tied for 31st.
Chris Paisley rounded out the lineup for the Volunteers. Paisley has a scorecard of 75-75--150 after the second round. He sits tied for 60th.
Clemson fired a team score of 280 and now has a three-stroke lead over yesterday's leader Alabama. Alabama fired a 285 and sits in second place. Florida jumped nine spots with a 276 and sit in third place. Tennessee is in fourth with Georgia State and North Carolina State tied for fifth.
Darren Blair of North Carolina State retains his day-one lead with a 3-under-par 69 and sits 10-under-par for the tournament. Two strokes behind is Vince Hatfield of Georgia. Third place belongs to Brendan Gielow of Wake Forest who is three strokes back of the leader at 7-under-par. Three are tied for fourth place.
The third and final round begins Sunday morning at 8:30.
