Over 60 Fund Drive Workers and their families gathered for the annual Fund Drive Training Camp prior to the UAB game on Saturday. The day's activities included a behind-the-scenes tour of the newly renovated Lindsey Nelson Stadium, an overview of the renovations for the future Football Training Center and a visit with Athletic Directors Mike Hamilton and Joan Cronan and Tennessee legend Gus Manning.
The Fund Drive Worker Program was founded in 1993 to support the VASF (now the Tennessee Fund) in raising the annual funds needed to provide scholarships for over 500 student-athletes by prospecting and soliciting new donors and assisting with retention of existing ones. Today, there are approximately 100 fund drive workers in seven cities (Atlanta, Charlotte, Chattanooga/Cleveland (TN), Knoxville, Nashville, Memphis and the Tri-Cities) that support the Tennessee Fund collectively as a group and individually.
"Last year, this special group raised over $600,000 in new contributions for the Tennessee Fund," Hamilton said. "The Fund Drive Workers are the driving force behind our annual giving program."
The Fund Drive Worker Program is successful due to the generosity of its volunteers who donate their time and resources to advance the vision of Tennessee Athletics.
