On Sept. 2, the decision on what to wear should be an easy one for the Tennessee faithful. All Volunteer fans, student, and alumni should throw on their favorite college hats, T-shirts, ties or jewelry and head to work or campus in full Tennessee spirit.
College Colors Day, in partnership with NCAA football, is an annual celebration dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that embody the college experience by encouraging fans across America to wear their favorite college or university apparel throughout the day on Friday, Sept.2. It is celebrated by thousands of individuals, organizations, and business locations nationwide.
Additionally, College Colors Day, which coincides with "back to school" and the kick-off of intercollegiate athletics, strives to advocate higher education through increased public awareness, and celebrates the achievements of college and universities, acknowledging their fundamental importance.
Several national happenings in support of College Colors Day include:
- A partnership with Grammy Award winning artist, Lady Antebellum.
- Thousands of retail locations supporting through in-store promotions.
- College Colors Day television spots that will run nationally on sports and news networks the week leading up to College Colors Day. This includes the ESPN networks, CNN, Fox News, and more.
- Governors from across the United States recognizing Sept. 2 as College Colors Day in their respective state.
- Colleges and universities, as well as businesses and other organizations from coast to coast will support and celebrate the day in a variety of ways.
