July 03, 2012 | Men's Track
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee track & field program will be represented by five familiar faces when the North American, Central American and Caribbean Under 23 Championships are held July 6-8 in Guanajuato, Mexico.
UT Associate Head Coach John Frazier already was booked for the trip, accepting an invitation to serve as the women's throws coach for the United States. Two recent Lady Vol graduates and Capital One Academic All-Americans will be joining Frazier on the American side. That duo includes Chanelle Price in the 800 meters and Ellen Wortham in the 400m hurdles. Both competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials last week.
Price is slated to run in the 800m semifinals on Saturday and potentially the final on Sunday. Wortham, meanwhile, is ticketed to run in a 400m hurdles final on Saturday. They enter with season bests of 2:01.49 and 55.55, respectively.
Two other Tennessee athletes will be representing their home countries at the championships. Freshman Jamol James will be representing Trinidad & Tobago in the men's sprints. He has personal bests, earned in 2012, of 10.17 in the 100m and 21.25 for the 200m.
Sophomore Allison Outerbridge will be competing for Bermuda. Her best distance in the triple jump is 40-5 1/2.
