Tennessee's Last Meet: The Tennessee men suffered its first loss of the season in a tight dual meet at North Carolina, falling 170-130 to split their central North Carolina road trip in early October. Thanks to some massive finishes, the Vols managed to compete with the Tar Heels all the way until the final relays. Junior Sean Lehane already has five victories, including wins in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke in Chapel Hill. Freshman Sam McHugh (200-yard freestyle, 200 IM) also picked up a pair of key wins, including a 1-2 finish in the 200 IM with senior Tristan Slater. In the diving well, Mauricio Robles knocked off North Carolina's John Nyquist by less than a point. The redshirt freshman hasn't finished lower than second so far this year.
Last Time vs. Indiana/Kentucky: At the same meet last year in Bloomington, Ind., the men defeated their SEC rivals, 177-123, while they fell to the non-conference hosts, 179-121. UT's men won just three races on the afternoon, but earned many second and third-place finishes to earn lots of valuable points. Robles won the three-meter competition with a score of 371.05, finishing ahead of both of Kentucky's dynamic senior duo of Greg Ferrucci and John Fox. The Vols won the 400-yard freestyle relay, featuring current Vols Lehane and Gustav Aberg Ledjstrom.
#12 Tennessee: 2-1 (0-0 SEC)
#11 Indiana: 1-3
(NR) Kentucky: 1-1 (1-1 SEC)
Tennessee's Last Meet: After starting the season off 2-0, the women fell to the Tar Heels by a 204-96 score. Senior Molly Hannis and junior Faith Johnson each picked up a pair of wins, while Morgan Dickson earned a career-high time ni the 1000-yard freestyle (10:02.78) en route to a second-place result. In the diving well, Sarah Chewning (1-meter) and Samantha Lera (3-meter) each earned third place in one of the diving competitions against a very solid Tar Heel women's diving squad.
Last Time vs. Indiana/Kentucky: The Lady Vols swept both IU and UK when the three school met in Bloomington last November, defeating the host Hoosiers (171-123) and the SEC for Wildcats (214-84). Current upperclassmen Johnson and Hannis each swept a pair of events, while then freshman Heather Lundstrom won the 200-yard butterfly, the third time she had done so to start her first season. After starting the previous season 8-1, Tennessee jumped out to a 5-0 start after this double dual meet.
