November 20, 2014 | Softball
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - On Thursday, the Tennessee softball program announced three additions to its 2015 recruiting class. Savannah Huffstetler, Logyn Lilley and Maya Mathis will join the Big Orange in the 2015-16 academic year.
Tennessee went 46-12 in 2014, making its seventh NCAA Super Regional in the last 10 seasons. The Big Orange has won at least 40 games in each of its last 12 seasons. Tennessee will celebrate its 20th year of softball in 2015. NFCA All-American and 2014 NFCA Co-Freshman of the Year Annie Aldrete is among UT's nine returning veterans. The Lady Vols also feature eight exciting newcomers for the upcoming 2015 campaign. Tennessee has made six Women's College World Series appearances in the last 10 years with five finishes in the top three.

Huffstetler helped lead Lambert to back-to-back region championships in 2013 and 2014 and has gotten better with each season. She played second base as a junior in 2013, hitting .425 with four homers and 34 RBIs. Huffstetler switched to shortstop this fall and hit .488 with 10 homers and 32 RBIs. As team captain, she helped her club team, the Atlanta Vipers 18U, win the 2014 ASA state championship. She has also been a team captain on the Worth Cobras, Team Georgia and the Georgia Impact.

Lilley is a three-time Florida all-state selection (2012-14) and led Max Preps Florida in batting average (.630), RBIs (44) and on-base percentage (.677) as a junior 2014. She is also a three-time all-Sun Coast League selection. She hit a career-best seven home runs last year and has played second base, third base and pitcher. Lilley plays club ball for Florida Team Mizuno and the Mizuno Krusherz.

Mathis helped lead Baylor School to back-to-back Tennessee state championships (2012, 2013). She has played both second base and third base and had a breakout sophomore season, hitting .408 with three homers, 26 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. Mathis plays club ball for the Tennessee Fury, The Tornadoes and the Lady Panthers and was on The Tornadoes' 2010 ASA state championship team.
