HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Tennessee women's golf team continued its grind at the third annual Darius Rucker Intercollegiate on Saturday.
The Lady Vols shot a second round 300 (+16) to make for a two day total of 604 (+36). UT currently sits in 12th place ahead of three top-25 nationally ranked teams (Arizona State, Auburn, and Kentukcy).
"Today was a little better round, but we let some shots get away at the end," head coach Judi Pavon said. "This team is really improving and doing a lot of good things and I feel like everything will come together soon. Mason [Chen] played well today after a poor round yesterday and Lucia [Polo] has been solid both rounds."
Lucia Polo continues to lead the way for Tennessee at the Long Cove Club. Polo has a two day total of 149 (+7), placing her in a tie for 26th place.
Chessey Thomas has shot back-to-back rounds of 75 (+8) to place her in a tie for 30th.
Freshman Hannah Pietila finished next in line on the Lady Vol leaderboard, shooting a second round 76 (+5).
Mason Chen and Emmie Pietila both sit in a tie for 69th place heading into the final round at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. Emmie has carded a two day total of 157 (+15) while competing as an individual. Chen shot a team best 74 (+3) on Saturday to catapult her up the standings.
Daeun Song completed the UT lineup with a 36-hole total of 161 (+19).
The Duke Blue Devils continue to lead the tournament with a two day score of 575 (+7). Alabama's Stephanie Meadow maintains her individual lead by a stroke over Duke's Celine Boutier and LSU's Caroline Nistrup.
Tennessee will complete its stay at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at 9:30 a.m. (ET) on Sunday morning.
