KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- In a ceremony Friday afternoon, the University of Tennessee department of athletics dedicated the Regal Entertainment Group Plaza. The plaza, which resides at the entrance of the Anderson Training Center and Brenda Lawson Athletic Center, features a one-of-a-kind waterfall and will have lighted images of Tennessee College Football Hall of Fame members.
"Regal Entertainment Group has been a consistent and significant supporter of the University of Tennessee and our athletics department," Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Dave Hart said. "I am grateful for the continued generosity of Greg Dunn, Amy Miles, and everyone associated with Regal. Their investment in UT and the East Tennessee community has made this a better place for us all to call home."
The plaza is named in honor of Regal Entertainment Group's leadership support for the construction of the Anderson Training Center and ongoing commitment to the athletics department's pursuit of comprehensive excellence.
"At Regal Entertainment Group, it is a very important part of our culture to stay active and supportive in the communities where we live and operate our theaters," said Greg Dunn, president and chief operating officer at Regal Entertainment Group. "From the beginning, Regal's roots have been in East Tennessee, and we are pleased that our ongoing relationship with the University of Tennessee remains strong."
Regal Entertainment has a long history of support of Tennessee athletics, including serving as the lead donor to the Regal Soccer Stadium and Lindsey Nelson Baseball Stadium renovations. The company, headquartered in Knoxville, operates the largest and most geographically diverse theatre circuit in the United States, consisting of 7,406 screens in 581 theatres in 42 states along with Guam, Saipan, American Samoa and the District of Columbia.
