THE FREE THROW DIFFERENCE

One of the biggest difference in the game was free throw disparity.
Mississippi State shot 24 of 44 from the line (54.5 percent), making just 13 of 26 in the second half (50 percent).
The Bulldogs had entered the game shooting 73.1 percent from the free throw line as a team.
Meanwhile, the Vols made 17 of 22 free throws (77.3 percent).
Tennessee was called for 32 fouls in the game.

THE FREE THROW DIFFERENCE

Kevin Punter led the Vols with 15 points on 4 of 8 shooting from the floor and 5 of 5 from the free throw line before fouling out.
Josh Richardson had 11 points, and Devon Baulkman had 10 points.
Derek Reese matched his career best with 10 rebounds.
Speaking of double digits, the Vols were 10 of 20 from 3-point range. It is the third time this season that UT has made at least 10.

The Vols rolled out to a 12-0 lead to start the game.
Mississippi State committed six turnovers in that time, which the Vols turned into seven points.
In that time, the Vols were 5 of 9 from the first (56 percent). Mississippi State took just two shots, missing both.
Gavin Ware put Mississippi State on the scoreboard with a layup with 14:55.

Led by Devon Baulkman, the Vols picked up the scoiring late and took a 26-23 lead into halftime.
Baulkman led the Vols with 10 points and a team-leading five rebounds along with Derek Reese.
Robert Hubbs III had seven points.
