Vols Create Trees For Fantasy Of Trees
November 25, 2015 | General
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- When at the Fantasy of Trees this holiday weekend, be on the lookout for special trees created and donated by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at the University of Tennessee.

Tennessee student-athletes created unique ornaments for their sports to go on trees donated to the Fantasy of Trees
Student-athletes from every team on campus helped create the trees for the annual event that benefits the programs and facilities at the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital.
Each team created ornaments and decorations that reflected the unique nature of its sport. Tennessee baseball took apart baseballs and constructed ornaments out of the leather coverings. Members of the softball team made an ornament out of a signed softball and bottled up dirt from the Lee Stadium infield. Some of Tennessee’s golfers went to work on golf balls with a drill to create a look of sitting atop a tee.
Following the ornament construction, SAAC had a decorating party where the handiwork of the teams was put on the trees to be donated, while the wrapping crew made faux presents to put under the trees. Lights, garland and other decorations were applied to the student-athlete trees before they were delivered to the Knoxville Convention Center for the event.
Like every tree at the Fantasy of Trees, the creations donated by SAAC are up for sale at the event, with proceeds benefitting ETCH.
The Fantasy of Trees runs from Nov. 25-29 at the Knoxville Convention Center.
