Tennessee Announces 23 December Graduates

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Twenty-three current or former University of Tennessee student-athletes earned their undergraduate degrees this month, the Thornton Student Life Center announced Friday.
Members of 12 teams completed their academic programs.
During the fall semester, Tennessee posted a 3.06 overall student-athlete GPA, with 13 of 16 teams posting above 3.00. It is the highest term GPA and the sixth consecutive semester of GPAs above 3.00.
There were 126 students on their respective Dean's List, the second-highest number in program history, and 29 student-athletes recorded a perfect 4.00 average. In total, 302 (60 percent) student athletes received a 3.00 or higher GPA, the first time the Tennessee athletics department has reached the 60 percent threshold in the fall semester.
Three teams recorded or tied their highest Fall GPAs (Baseball, Men's Golf, and Men's Track & Field). Baseball recorded its highest team GPA for any semester (3.12).
Seven members of the football team received their degrees: Max Arnold, Patrick Ashford, Jason Croom, Johnathon Johnson, LaDarrell McNeil, Danny O'Brien and Devrin Young. The football team posted a fall team GPA of 2.68, the second-highest in fall history; the cumulative GPA is 2.77, the highest in team history. Fifty-seven players earned their Vol Scholar patches by earning a 3.00 GPA, and 18 players will play in the Outback Bowl as college graduates.
