V8+ Advances To Grand Final In San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Tennessee advanced its varsity eight to the grand finals at the San Diego Crew Classic on Saturday with a time of six minutes and 56.63 seconds in heat C. The Big Orange also sent two boats to the petite final, the Lady Vols' V4 and 2V placed third in their heats.
To begin the morning on Mission Bay, the V8 beat out Miami, Portland, SDSU, Santa Clara and UC San Diego to advance to the grand final which will race at 12:53 ET on Sunday in lane two.
Tennessee's varsity four finished in third place with a time of 8 minutes and 9.92 seconds, falling to Southern California (7:43.95) and Kansas State (7:59.68). The Lady Vols will race in the petite final at 11:32 ET in lane three against Old Dominion, Duke, Loyola Marymount, SDSU and Saint Marys.
To close on Saturday's races the Lady Vols' 2V finished third with a time of 7 minutes and 17.54 seconds. The 2V advanced to the petite final and will race at 11:16 AM ET against British Columbia, Sacramento State, Loyola Marymount, Saint Marys and Old Dominion. Tennessee will be in lane three.
