July 01, 2015 | General

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Thirty-nine Tennessee student-athletes were among the 822 student-athletes named to the 2014-15 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll, as announced on Tuesday by SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey.
A total of 166 Tennessee student-athletes achieved Academic Honor Roll recognition from the league for the 2014-15 school year. Seventy-five Tennessee sophomores, juniors and seniors were named to the 2015 Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll on Tuesday. Fifty-two were named to the 2014 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll back in January.
Each student-athlete must 1) have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship or a letter winner; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
The SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2014-15 academic calendar.
