UTAD Closes Record-Breaking Fundraising Year
July 30, 2015 | General

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The University of Tennessee Athletic Department announced that it collected a record $48.4 million in cash and support in the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2015. This surpassed the previous high mark of $47 million in 2008. Additionally, Tennessee Fund membership has increased to 12,954 members, its highest mark since 2010.
“This is another illustration of the tremendous passion and generosity of our donors,” said Vice Chancellor & Director of Athletics Dave Hart. “Their generosity directly funds scholarships for the young men and women in our athletics program and affords us the ability to continue to enhance the student-athlete experience at the University of Tennessee. We are also blessed to have an exceptional staff in the Tennessee Fund, led by Associate Athletic Director and Chief Fundraising officer, Greg Hulen.”
Annual giving to the Tennessee Fund accounted for $28.3 million (58%) of the total figure, an increase of $3.65 million from 2013-14. Gifts given specifically to support capital projects totaled $12.6 million. The remaining dollars raised, approximately $7.5 million came in the form of endowments, planned gifts and gift-in-kind contributions.
Since launching the Campaign for Comprehensive Excellence in the fall of 2013, the Tennessee Fund has raised more than $112 million in cash and pledges, including over $31 million for capital projects, over $21 million in planned gifts, and $5.3 million to fund educational initiatives including the SouthEast Bank Renewing Academic Commitment program.
The Campaign for Comprehensive Excellence has resulted in completed projects such as the Pat Summitt Plaza, the Ray & Lucy Hand Digital Studio, and the Joan Cronan Volleyball Center to-date, with major improvements to the Haslam Practice Fields, the basketball locker rooms at Thompson-Boling Arena, the Basler Boathouse, Tom Black Track, Goodfriend Tennis Center and the Mack & Jonnie Day Golf Practice Facility all scheduled to begin soon.
