SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Three current Tennessee swimmers and one recent graduate teamed up to win the 400-meter medley relay Monday night to close out the Phillips 66 National Championships.
Competing as a part of Tennessee Aquatics, sophomore Micah Bohon, graduate Molly Hannis, senior Harper Bruens and senior Faith Johnson earned a gold medal in the final night session by winning the relay in 4 minutes, 4.46 seconds.
At the conclusion of the five-day meet, Tennessee Aquatics finished third in the combined team standings, the best in club history.
Hannis and Johnson have earned plenty of success in the medley relays over their Tennessee careers. At the 2013 NCAA championships, Hannis swam the breaststroke leg of UT's winning 200 and 400 medley relay teams, and Johnson was the freestyler on that 200 medley relay team as a freshman.
Bruens has competed the last two years on UT's medley relay teams, helping the team take gold in both events at the SEC Championships last season.
Hannis also took home a silver medal in the 200 breaststroke Monday evening. Swimming in lane six, she posted a time of 2:25.57 to finish second behind Laura Sogar.
Johnson wrapped up a strong meet individually as well. She finished seventh in the 100 freestyle (55.55) to go along with her fourth-place finish in the 50 freestyle on Saturday.
Maddy Tegner reached the top eight of a senior national event for the first time, placing sixth in the 800 freestyle (8:40.34).
Former Vol Brad Craig was 16th overall in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.41)
