KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee women's golf team is in third place at the conclusion of two rounds after shooting a combined 1-under at the Mercedes-Benz Championship at Cherokee Country Club Monday.

Three Vols--Lucia Polo, Shannon Brooks and Anna Newell--are in the top ten after Monday's rounds. Polo sits at 3-under while Brooks and Newell are 1-under.

Only Tennessee and Iowa State have three players in the top ten. Kent State, however, leads the tournament at 5-under.

Polo collected nine birdies on the day, a team high. Newell and Hannah Pietila, who is competing as an individual, posted eagles, both on the par-5 11th.

Tennessee led the tournament at the conclusion of the first round after shooting 4-under as a team. Its team total of 280 Monday morning tied the tournament record for lowest team round. In the second round, Iowa State shot a 7-under 277 to take over the all-time record for lowest team round.

Sophomore Anna Newell was tied for the lead with Florida's Samantha Wagner following Monday's first round after shooting a 4-under 67. Her 67 is tied for the third-best individual round total in tournament history.

The Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship continues tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. ET at Cherokee Country Club. Round three pairings will be announced this evening.
