PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. -- Former Tennessee men's golf alum Rick Lamb is tied for the lead following Thursday's suspended first-round of the 2017 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am held at Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course and Monterey Peninsula Country Club Shore Course.
Lamb, who graduated from Tennessee in 2014 with a degree in economics, shot a 4-under 68 at Spy Hill in the first round, tying Seung-Yul Noh and Joel Dahmen for first place. He logged birdies on the fifth, seventh, eighth, 10th and 11th holes.
The PGA Tour moved up tee times by one hour in an attempt to beat incoming storms. However, once all three courses were affected by the rain, play was suspended. Those with first-round holes still remaining will return to their respective courses on Friday starting at 7:30 a.m. PT to resume play.
Lamb earned his PGA Tour card in August of 2016 by finishing 24th on the Web.com Tour Regular Season money list. He played in 13 events on the Web.com Tour in 2016 with four top-25 finishes, three top 10s, a tie for third in the News Sentinel Open presented by Pilot in August and a victory in the LECOM Health Challenge in July.
Lamb finished his Tennessee career as ranked third on the Vols' all-time scoring average list at 73.03. In 2013, he was named a PING All-American honorable mention and a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar. Lamb was the runner-up at the 2013 NCAA Championship and won three tournaments during his UT career from the 2011-12 season through the 2012-13 season. He transferred to Tennessee after playing his freshman and sophomore years at Santa Clara.
