OAK RIDGE, TENN. --Tennessee Rowing opened the spring season at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational Saturday, facing off against Miami, Tusla, Minnesota, Michigan, Kansas and Notre Dame on the first day of racing.
In the morning session against Tulsa, Minnesota and Miami, Tennessee's 1V8 finished fourth with a time of 6:40.287, less than four seconds behind Miami who won the race with a time of 6:36.900. In the 2V8 race, Tennessee finished second with a time of 6:52.134. In the Novice/3V8 race, the Vols' first Novice Eight took second with a time of 7:26.252. Out of the 1V4s, Tennessee finished third with a time of 7:37.710. The Vols' 2V4 also took third in their race, posting a time of 7:57.595.
In the afternoon Tennessee squared off against Michigan, Notre Dame and Kansas. In the 1V8 and 2V8 races, the Vols took third in each with times of 6:44.371 and 6:55.482 respectively. The 1V4 and 2V4s also finished third in their races with times of 7:38.041 and 8:09.680. Tennessee's first Novice Eight finished fourth with a time of 7:44.647 and the second Novice Eight finished third with a time of 8:21.053.
Tomorrow the Vols will take on Virginia, Michigan and Michigan State beginning at 9:14 AM.
