Vols In 13th at SECs Through Round 2

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. -- After shaving seven strokes off the team score in the second round, the Tennessee men's golf team is in 13th place through the first 36 holes of the 2017 SEC Men's Golf Championship at Sea Island Golf Club's Seaside Course.

Texas A&M leads the tournament at 5-under 555. Vanderbilt (3-under 557) and Florida (2-under 558) round out the top three teams.
The Vols are currently at 35-over 595 after shooting 21-over 301 in the first round and 14-over 294 in the second round.
Florida's Alejandro Tosti leads the 70-player field at 7-under 133. Vanderbilt's Patrick Martin is in second place at 6-under and Ole Miss' Braden Thornberry is in third at 5-under.
Junior Lorenzo Scalise is tied for 35th and leads the Vols at 5-over 145. After shooting 5-over 75 in the first round, Scalise carded an even-par 70 in the second round with birdies on the eighth and 13th holes.
Senior Juan Carlos Serrano is tied for 41st at 6-over 146. Serrano bounced back from a 6-over 76 in his first 18 holes with an even-par 70 over his next 18, posting birdies on the second, 12th and 14th holes.
Freshman Rhys Nevin saw a two-stroke improvement in the second round and sits tied for 55th at 10-over 150. Freshman Brayden Garrison is tied for 66th at 14-over 154 and redshirt freshman Nolan Ray is 69th at 18-over 158.
Saturday's third round of stroke play has a 7:30 a.m. ET start. The Vols, who are paired with Mississippi State, will begin the third round from the 10th tee, with Ray teeing off at 8:10 a.m. The team standings after stroke play will determine seeding for match play on Sunday and Monday.
