TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- After sweeping a doubleheader on Saturday, the No. 7/10 Lady Vols fell to No. 17/17 Alabama 4-0 on Monday at Rhoads Stadium.
Tennessee (40-9, 10-8 SEC) could not get anything going offensively after putting up 13 runs in Saturday's second game. Alexis Osorio went a full seven innings for the Crimson Tide (28-15, 8-10 SEC), collecting seven strikeouts while allowing just one hit to improve to 11-7 on the year.
Alabama took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, as Merris Schroder reached and stole second base before being driven in on a Caroline Hardy single.
The Crimson Tide added two more runs in the third to make it 3-0. Demi Turner led off the frame with a single through the right side, and advanced to second on a groundout. Schroder then brought in Turner with an RBI single up the middle and was able to reach second on the throw. A Sydney Booker triple down the left field line then scored Schroder, but Booker was thrown out at home in an attempt at an inside-the-park home run.
Alabama would add another in the sixth as Booker scored from third base via an error.
Matty Moss gave up three runs in 2.1 innings and fell to 17-4 with the loss. Caylan Arnold came in for 3.2 innings of relief work and collected four strikeouts while giving up a run.
UP NEXT: The Lady Vols return to Sherri Parker Lee Stadium for a three-game home series against Kentucky beginning Friday, April 27 at 6 p.m.
