May 29, 2019 | Softball
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Tennessee senior Aubrey Leach has been named to the Senior CLASS Award's All-America Second Team, the organization announced on Wednesday.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
Leach is a Vol Scholar, a three-time Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athlete and has been named to the SEC Spring Honor Roll on three occasions. The infielder has made the dean's list seven times and earned Summa Cum Laude honors in Fall 2018.
In the community, Leach volunteered on numerous projects and worked with the Knoxville Challenger Games at UT. During the summer of 2017, she took part in the VOLeaders Academy's 13-day study abroad trip to Vietnam where she and fellow student-athletes learned about the nation's culture and used sports as a means to enact positive change.
On the diamond, Leach was tabbed NFCA First Team All-Region this season, earning All-Region accolades for the third time in her career. The Woodlands, Texas native picked up All-SEC honors for the second time in her career this year as she was named to the league's second team.
In 2018, she set the program record for runs scored in a single-season at 80 and wrapped up her time on Rocky Top as the program's all-time leader in runs scored and walks.
Leach joins Florida's Kelly Barnhill and Amanda Lorenz and Kentucky's Katie Reed as Senior CLASS All-Americans from the SEC.
