USA 3, Brazil 0 (Gold Medal Match)
Former Lady Vol Kelsey Robinson and Team USA volleyball defeated Brazil Sunday at Ariake Arena to win the gold medal in women's volleyball. Team USA won the match in three sets (25-21, 25-20, 25-14) to win the first-ever Olympic gold medal for the U.S. in women's volleyball. For Robinson, it is her second Olympic medal after winning bronze with Team USA in Rio in 2016.Â

Kelsey Robinson and Team USA swept Serbia in three sets (25-19, 25-15, 25-23) to advance to the Gold medal match on Sunday. Team USA will face Brazil in the final.Â
USA 3, Dominican Republic 0
Team USA rolled on Wednesday, defeating the Dominican Republic in straight-sets (25-11, 25-20, 25-19) at Ariake Arena. The Americans cruised through their quarterfinals opponent and will face Serbia in the semifinals on Friday, August 6.
Carey McLeod contested his second event at the Tokyo Olympics, the men's triple jump, finishing 11th in Group A with a jump of 16.01m.Â

USA 3, Italy 2
In a thrilling five-set match, Team USA emerged victorious over Italy (21-25, 25-16, 25-27, 25-16, 15-12). With the win, Team USA finishes first in Group B and sets up a quarterfinals match against the Dominican Republic on Wednesday, August 4.
Swimming
Erika Brown and Team USA won the silver medal in the 4x100 medley relay to cap the swimming portion of the Tokyo Olympics. Brown, who did not swim in the finals but receives a medal for competing in qualifying, became the sixth Vol or Lady Vol swimmer to win two medals in a single Olympics. Brown also won the bronze medal with Team USA in the 4x100 freestyle relay.
Track and Field
In women's hammer throw, Stamatia Scarvelis placed 10th in Group A during the qualification rounds, with a best throw of 69.01m.Â

Kelsey Robinson played in all three sets for Team USA, totaling six points on five kills and a service ace. Team USA ultimately fell in three sets to the Russian Olympic Committee (20-25, 12-25, 19-25), suffering its first defeat in Tokyo. Team USA faces Italy on Monday, August 2 as it closes out Pool play. Â

Erika Brown anchored the final leg of Team USA's 4x100 medley relay team, swimming a split of 52.83 in the freestyle. Overall, the U.S. finished second in qualifying to punch its ticket to Saturday night's final, marking the second finals for Brown in the Tokyo Olympics.
Cherelle Thompson made her Olympic debut, posting a time of 26.19 in the 50-meter freestyle for Trinidad and Tobago.
Track and Field
Joella Lloyd ran twice Friday in the women's 100m dash, advancing out of the preliminary round with a time of 11.55. She ran again in heat one of the 100m, placing seventh in 11.54.Â
In the men's high jump, Darryl Sullivan cleared a height of 2.17, finishing 15th in Group B.

Tennys Sandgren and Austin Krajicek dropped the Men's Doubles Bronze Medal Match to New Zealand's Daniell/Venus, 6-7(3), 2-6, concluding Tennys' Olympic run in Tokyo.

During the night cap, Kira Toussaint swam the backstroke leg of the 4x100 mixed medley relay, helping the Netherlands to a sixth-place finish with a 3:43.25 time and securing a spot in the finals.

USA 3, Turkey 2
Team USA improved to 3-0 in Pool B play as it defeated Turkey in five sets (25-19, 25-20, 17-25, 20-25, 15-12). Kelsey Robinson finished the five-setter with five kills and a block as she made her 2020 Tokyo Olympics debut. With the victory, Team USA sits second in Pool B with eight points - just one point behind first-place Italy. The Red, White and Blue next plays the Russian Olympic Committee Saturday, July 31.

After falling in Thursday's Semifinals match against Mektic/Pavic of Croatia (4-6, 4-6), Tennys Sandgren and his doubles partner Austin Krajicek will compete in the Men's Doubles Bronze Medal Match Friday against New Zealand's Daniell/Venus.

USA 18, ROC 15 (Gold Medal Game)
The U.S. Olympic 3x3 Women's Basketball Team (8-1) earned the first gold medal in Olympic 3x3 basketball history after defeating the Russian Olympic Committee, 18-15, on Wednesday night at Aomi Urban Sports Park on Saturday in Tokyo. The team was coached by former Lady Vol All-American Kara Lawson.
Swimming
After setting a personal record in qualifying for the 200-meter breaststroke, Lyubomir Epitropov finished 15th overall in the event by posting a time of 2:10.33 in the semifinals Wednesday morning.

During the night slate, Mona McSharry bettered her Irish national record in the 200-meter breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:25.08 to finish 20th. The Lady Vol sophomore put on an impressive showing during her first-ever Olympic Games, becoming just the second Irish swimmer ever to compete in an Olympics final and nearly besting her Irish national record in the 100-meter breast.

Erika Brown also returned to the pool, competing in the 100-meter freestyle. She finished 18th after notching a time of 53.87 against a stacked field. Despite not initially making the cut, Brown qualified for the semifinals after a pair of scratches and winning a swim-off.

In the Men's Doubles Quarterfinals, Tennys Sandgren, along with his doubles partner Austin Krajicek advanced to the Semifinals in Tokyo, defeating Germany's Struff/Zverev 6-3, 7-6(4).

In a rematch of the 2008 Olympic final, Team USA fell 2-0 to host Japan in the Tokyo 2020 gold medal game. Lady Vol great Monica Abbott made her sixth appearance of the tournament, throwing 20.1 innings with one unearned run allowed. The Tennessee alumna from Salinas, California, finished the Olympics with a tournament-best 0.00 ERA, three wins and 31 strikeouts for Team USA.

Competing in her second finals of the games, Kira Toussaint finished seventh in the 100-meter backstroke with a 59.11 time.

Mona McSharry became just the second Irish swimmer ever to qualify for an Olympics final on Tuesday morning, competing in the 100-meter breaststroke. The Lady Vol sophomore finished eighth after touching the wall in 1:06.94.
In the night session, Lyubomir Epitropov posted a Bulgarian national record and personal-best time of 2:09.68 to clinch his spot in the semifinals of the 200-meter breaststroke. The Volunteer won the 2021 SEC Championships and holds the UT program record in the event.

Team USA continued its winning ways Tuesday as it defeated China, the defending gold medal winners from Rio, in straight-sets. The opening set was closely contested with the Red, White and Blue winning 29-27. The Americans then reeled off a 25-22 second set win and a 25-21 third set win. After two matches, Team USA is tied with Italy atop the Pool B standings with six points. Team USA's next match comes against Turkey on Thursday, July 29.

The Lady Vols continued their success in the Tokyo during the morning session, punching tickets to the finals in a pair of events.

Mona McSharry kicked things off by clinching a spot in the finals of the 100-meter breaststroke behind an eighth-place finish. Her time of 1:06.59 was just 0.3 seconds off her Irish Senior Record.
Kira Toussaint finished seventh in a stacked 100-meter backstroke field by throwing down a time of 59.09 to earn a spot in her second finals of the Tokyo Olympics. She helped the Netherlands to a fourth-place finish in the 4x100 freestyle relay earlier in the games. Â
During the evening heats, Ellen Walshe from Ireland swam in her second event of the games. She competed in the 200-meter individual medley, posting a time of 2:13.34.
Softball
USA 2, Japan 1
In a contest that pitted world-ranked No. 1 Team USA against No. 2 Japan, the rivalry did not disappoint as the Red, White and Blue came-from-behind to record a 2-1 walk-off victory in their final round robin game of the Tokyo Olympics. The result clinched the United States' spot as the home team in Tuesday's Gold Medal Game, a rematch between the Americans and the host country set for a 7 a.m. ET first pitch in Tokyo.
Former Lady Vol Monica Abbott made her fifth appearance of the tournament and earned the win in relief after coming on to retire the side in order in the top of the seventh. Team USA claimed victory with a walk-off solo home run by Kelsey Stewart in the bottom half of the game's final frame.

The second session of swimming featured a pair of Lady Vols competing in the 4x100 freestyle relay, highlighted by Erika Brown winning a Bronze Medal with Team USA. Brown was the leadoff swimmer on the relay that posted a time of 3:32.81. Kira Toussaint helped the Netherlands to a fourth-place finish in the event with a 3:33.70 time.
In the night session, Toussaint returned to the pool and threw down a strong performance in the 100-meter backstroke to finish seventh and earn a spot in the semifinals, posting a time of 59.21. A ninth-place finish pushed Mona McSharry into the semifinals of the 100-meter breaststroke, touching in 1:06.39.

Tennys Sandgren and doubles partner Austin Krajicek began their quest for Olympic gold with a 3-6, 7-6(5), 10-5 win over Australia's John Peers and Max Purcell in the Men's Doubles First Round, as they advance to the Round of 16 in Tokyo.

Kelsey Robinson and Team USA women's volleyball opened Pool B play Sunday with a straight-set win over Argentina. Team USA opened with a 25-20 first set victory, before winning set two 25-19 and set three 25-20. The Americans next face defending Olympic gold medal winners, China, in pool play Tuesday, July 27.Â

USA 2, Australia 1
Making her second start of the Olympic softball tournament, Tennessee's own Monica Abbott tossed an eight-inning complete game effort for the United States in its 2-1 triumph over Australia. The former Lady Vol racked up 13 strikeouts and kept the Aussies off the board through seven innings before surrendering an unearned run in extras. Michigan alum Amanda Chidester laced a walk-off two-run double in the bottom of the eighth to seal the win for the Red, White and Blue.

Four Vols and Lady Vols represented Tennessee across four events during the first session of swimming.

Ellen Walshe kicked things off by winning Heat 2 of the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 59.35, but the incoming freshman's time didn't qualify for the semifinals in the event. Tess Cieplucha made her Olympic debut by competing in the 400-meter individual medley, touching the wall in 4:44.54.

Two current Vols took part in the 100-meter breaststroke. Lyubomir Epitropov nearly eclipsed his personal best with a time of 1:00.71, while Michael Houlie went into the split with the lead in Heat 4 to finish with a 1:01.22.

Erika Brown didn't swim during the 4x100 freestyle relay qualifying, but the former All-American could secure a spot on the team during the finals. Team USA posted a time of 3:34.80 to advance.

In group stage action against the United States, New Zealand forward Hannah Wilkinson missed an equalizing goal by mere inches in the 43rd minute. The USA poured it on in the second half, going on to take a 6-1 victory over the Football Ferns.

Former Lady Vol Monica Abbott earned her second save of the Olympic softball tournament in the United States' 2-0 victory over Mexico. The left-hander from Salinas, California, entered the circle in the seventh inning and ended the game with three-straight strikeouts, helping the U.S. improve to 3-0 at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

Lady Vol legend Monica Abbott dealt a complete-game, one-hit shutout to help Team USA improve to 2-0 in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic softball tournament with a 1-0 triumph over Canada. The left-hander from Salinas, California, tallied nine strikeouts in her second appearance for the Red, White and Blue.

The United States softball national team began its quest for gold on Wednesday in Tokyo as softball returned to the Olympic program for the first time since 2008. Team USA defeated Italy 2-0 in the second game of a triple-header at Fukushima Azuma Baseball Stadium.
With the Americans clinging to a 2-0 lead in the top of the seventh, former Lady Vol Monica Abbott entered the circle in relief to record the final three outs. The Salinas, California, native struck out the side to seal the Game 1 victory for Team USA.

Australia 2, New Zealand 1
Former Tennessee soccer player Hannah Wilkinson appeared in her third Olympics on Wednesday, starting at forward for New Zealand and playing the full 90 minutes in the 2-1 loss to Australia. The Football Ferns will be back in action on Saturday, squaring off against the United States at 7:30 a.m. ET in the second round of the round-robin group stage.Â

Former Lady Vol Monica Abbott earned her second save of the Olympic softball tournament in the United States' 2-0 victory over Mexico. The left-hander from Salinas, California, entered the circle in the seventh inning and ended the game with three-straight strikeouts, helping the U.S. improve to 3-0 at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

The United States softball national team began its quest for gold on Wednesday in Tokyo as softball returned to the Olympic program for the first time since 2008. Team USA defeated Italy 2-0 in the second game of a triple-header at Fukushima Azuma Baseball Stadium.
With the Americans clinging to a 2-0 lead in the top of the seventh, former Lady Vol Monica Abbott entered the circle in relief to record the final three outs. The Salinas, California, native struck out the side to seal the Game 1 victory for Team USA.

Australia 2, New Zealand 1
Former Tennessee soccer player Hannah Wilkinson appeared in her third Olympics on Wednesday, starting at forward for New Zealand and playing the full 90 minutes in the 2-1 loss to Australia. The Football Ferns will be back in action on Saturday, squaring off against the United States at 7:30 a.m. ET in the second round of the round-robin group stage.Â
