Tennessee Offensive Line Recognized On Joe Moore Award Midseason Honor Roll
October 15, 2025 | Football
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – For the fifth consecutive season, Tennessee's offensive line has been recognized as a member of the Joe Moore Award Midseason Honor Roll, it was announced live on CBS Sports Network Wednesday night.
The Joe Moore Award is named after Joe Moore, widely regarded as one of the best offensive line coaches in college football history. Crafted by legendary sports sculptor Jerry McKenna, it's the largest trophy in college football, standing at a height of seven feet and weighing in at more than 800 pounds.
The Volunteers are one of 24 offensive line units in the country and five in the SEC on the midseason list, joining Alabama, Missouri, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt. Tennessee is the only SEC program who has appeared on the midseason list five consecutive seasons.
Under the direction of assistant coach Glen Elarbee, the Vol offensive line paves the way and protects for the No. 1 scoring offense in the country at 48.2 points per game. Tennessee is tied for the fewest sacks allowed in the SEC (4), and the Vols are ranked first and third, respectively in passing (317.8) and rushing (210.0) offense in the league. UT's offensive line has only been responsible for one of those four sacks according to Pro Football Focus.Â
The Vols entered the year with four new starters on the offensive line and continued their dominant prowess led by tackles Lance Heard, Jesse Perry and David Sanders Jr., guards Wendell Moe Jr. and Shamurad Umarov and centers Sam Pendleton and William Satterwhite.Â
The semifinalists for the Joe Moore Award will be announced on Nov. 5. Tennessee and Oregon are the only programs to be selected as semifinalists in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
