#23 Lady Vols in Lead After One Round at Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 23 Tennessee women's golf team is in first place after one round at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship.
The Lady Vols led the way at 4-under in the first round, setting the pace for the field heading into day two.
Individually, Madison Messimer fired a career-best 68, her second time finishing under par. She will enter round two one shot behind the leader and is tied for second.
Thitikarn Thapasit and Martina Lopez-Lanchares each carded a 70 in round one, finishing at 1-under par. They are tied for ninth heading into day two.
Lauren Nguyen, playing as an individual, finished even after a strong back nine at 3-under 35.
Manassanan Chotikabhukkana was 25th for the Big Orange at 1-over. She played the first nine even to start her round before finishing at 1-over through the closing stretch.
Sophie Christopher wrapped up the board for the Lady Vols in 61st place at 6-over.
