Vols Strong In Singles Play At Buck Bouldin Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Tennessee men's tennis team came out victorious in 10 of 12 singles matches at the Buck Bouldin Invitational, winning all four contests vs. Vanderbilt and Indiana, and splitting vs. Middle Tennessee in a format pitting each team's players against one another over the three-day competition.
Alejandro Moreno and Boruch Skierkier produced another weekend of undefeated singles play, with each posting 3-0 records at the event. Moreno continued his red-hot campaign by not dropping a set during the competition. Skierkier, meanwhile, added two three-set wins, including a marathon match with Callum Markowitz of Vanderbilt. The match went to three tie breakers, ending 7-6 (9-7), 6-7 (6-8), 7-6 (7-3).
Jose Garcia and Jan Kobierski also made the trip, and both posted 2-1 records in singles and doubles. The quartet of Vols put together two days of undefeated singles in the first and third days of the tournament vs. Vandy and IU, respectively.
The Big Orange faced off against players from Vanderbilt on Friday, MTSU on Saturday and Indiana on Sunday. No team scoring was kept, but individually UT finished the invitational with a record of 10-2 in singles and 3-3 in doubles.
