BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Sophomore diver Bennett Greene was named the SEC Diver of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. This marks the second time this season that Greene has been named the diver of the week by the conference.
Greene swept all three competitions at the UT Diving Invite. His first win came in the 3-meter event, setting a personal best of 427.65 en route to a win and the ninth-best score in the event in program history. Greene notched his second win in the 1-meter with a 410.25. That score was also a personal best for the sophomore, and is the sixth-best in Tennessee history. His final win came in the Platform, where Greene finished with a score of 378.80.
Greene has won six total events to start the season. He came into the season coming off an impressive freshman campaign where the Knoxville-native won bronze in the 3-meter springboard at the SEC Championships, becoming the first Tennessee freshman to win a medal in the event since Liam Stone won gold in 2015. Greene also captured All-American honors in both the 1- and 3-meter events. Greene's 13th place finish in 1-meter diving at last season's NCAA Championships made him the first Vol to finish in the top 16 since Matthew Wade in 2021 and first freshman since Wage back in 2019.
