CAA Freshman Of The Year Siekanowicz Inks With Vol Tennis
June 02, 2025 | Men's Tennis
Piotr Siekanowicz has signed with the Tennessee men's tennis team and will join the Vols for the 2025-26 season, head coach Chris Woodruff announced Monday.
Â
Siekanowicz, a transfer from the University of Delaware, holds a career-high ITA singles ranking of No. 608 (5/19/25)Â and a career-best ATP singles rating of 1488 (12/9/24).Â
Â
Owning a UTR of 12.19, Siekanowicz won his first seven matches as a collegian and compiled a 12-12 overall singles record along with a 14-11 doubles mark during the 2024-25 campaign. His efforts earned him All-Colonial Athletic Association First Team accolades in singles and doubles as well as CAA Freshman of the Year acclaim.
Â
"Woody, Jaime and I are pumped to be adding Piotr to our program," UT associate head coach Matt Lucas said. "His natural ability caught our attention, and his high level is very high.
Â
"It's now up to us to help him play at that level a bit more consistently. We are looking forward to helping his development toward a career as a pro. Piotr is a great young man who will make an impact the moment he arrives on campus."
Â
Siekanowicz, who hails from Wroclaw, Poland, finished 5-8 in singles during the dual season, including 5-7 at No. 1. He was 5-3, however, over the team's last 10 matches of the campaign. In doubles, he played 21 matches with the same teammate, logging a 13-8 overall record and 9-6 mark at No. 1 in dual competition.
Â
During the fall, he opened his college career by winning his first seven singles matches and ended up 7-4 in tournament play after seeing increasingly tougher competition. He advanced to the quarterfinals in singles and in doubles at the ITA Northeast Regional competition and earned an invitation to compete at the ITA East Sectional Championships. He also passed through the qualifying draw at the M15 Ann Arbor as well as both the qualifying draw and first round main draw at M15 Tallahassee, earning him his third ATP Point. Â
Â
Prior to coming to the U.S., Siekanowicz played at Come-on Tennis Club Wroclaw and was the highest ranked junior out of 1,500 players on the ATP Tour at one point. He achieved 12 national championships podium appearances, secured a win over a No. 160 ranked player and was a four-time runner up at the National Team Championships.
