October 16, 2026 | Volleyball
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Behind a pair of season-high outing from Jalyn Stout and Raegan Burns, the No. 9 Tennessee volleyball team picked up a four-set win on the road over Arkansas (25-23, 19-25, 25-19, 25-20) on Friday night at Barnhill Arena.
Stout was on fire on the attack, netting a season-best 19 kills on a phenomenal .455 hitting percentage. Burns keyed the Tennessee floor defense, recording her own season-high with 23 digs. It marked the first time a Lady Vol reached 20 or more digs in a match since Gülce Güçtekin had 21 against Kentucky on Nov. 24, 2025.
The Big Orange (13-3, 4-2 SEC) finished with 65 kills on .297 hitting. Two other players joined Stout in double-figures, with Kennedi Rogers and Chelsea Sutton each posting 12 kills each. Nia Hall came off the bench and just missed a double-digit kill performance herself, finishing with nine. Caroline Kerr supported the Tennessee attack with 47 assists, while filling up the stat sheet with eight digs, six kills, two blocks and two aces. Emma Frietch tied Kerr for the team-high in aces, as the freshman logged two of her own.
Tennessee notched 56 digs as a team in the victory. Maggie Dostic joined Burns in double figures with 10 digs, her eighth career match with 10 or more digs. UT had eight blocks in the contest, with Sutton leading the charge with five blocks. Anni Tang and Rogers were next, with the duo each recording three blocks. The Razorbacks (9-8, 1-5 SEC) finished with 52 kills on .254 hitting, but 18 attack errors would doom them in the match
The Lady Vols opened the match by winning a close battle in the first set. Both teams traded points early, but a 4-1 run by the Lady Vols gave them the lead midway through the set. Arkansas would battle back to tie the set at 23 apiece, but a Sutton kill and an attack error would give the UT the set win. Stout and Sutton would lead the offensive effort in the opening set, with each posting five kills.
After a close start to the second, Arkansas would use an 8-1 run to take control of the second set. The Lady Vols attempted to battle back in the second, but it was not enough as the Razorbacks would even the match at one set each. Sutton once again led the team in kills in the second, finishing the frame with another five.
Tennessee opened the third set with a 3-0 start and extended the lead to as many as six. UT would stave off any Arkansas rally, keeping the six-point advantage to retake the set lead at 2-1. The Lady Vols offense showed up in the third, with 21 kills on .366 hitting. Stout and Rogers led the charge in the attack, with seven and five kills respectively. Ut assisted 20 of its 21 kills in the third stanza, with Kerr recording 13.
UT kept up the offensive firepower in the final set to close out the match. Tennessee closed out the match with another 14 kills on a .393 hitting percentage, while holding the Razorbacks to a .191 hitting percentage and forcing seven attack errors. Stout saved her best offensive performance for the final set, finishing with eight kills on .800 hitting.
Up next, Tennessee continues its road trip with a match against Oklahoma on Sunday. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET and will be streamed on SEC Network+.
