Sunday's contest will mark the Volunteers' final exhibition game this fall and will be the first time UT has played at newly constructed Erlanger Park, which is the home of the Cincinnati Reds' Double-A affiliate the Chattanooga Lookouts. Erlanger Park opened on April 15, 2026, and is a main feature of the South Broad District in Chattanooga.
Sophomore lefthander Cam Appenzeller is slated to get the start on the mound for the Big Orange on Sunday afternoon.
Tennessee is coming off its seventh straight NCAA tournament appearance and enters Year 2 of the Josh Elander era. The Vols return13 players from last season's regional squad and a group of 24 newcomers, which consists of the nation's top ranked transfer portal class according to Baseball America and the No. 3 ranked high school signing class by Baseball America and Perfect Game.
Georgia Tech is entering Year 2 under head coach James Ramsey, who like Elander, was promoted to skipper prior to last season after spending multiple years as an assistant on the Yellow Jackets staff under longtime head man Danny Hall.
In Year 1 under Ramsey, Georgia Tech was one of the nation's best teams from start to finish, earning the No. 2 national seed after winning the ACC regular season and tournament titles. The Yellow Jackets finished with a 50-11 overall record in 2026 but were upset in the NCAA Atlanta Regional by eventual national champion Oklahoma.
