Burroughs & Stone Named to SEC Community Service Team

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Two Tennessee Swimming & Diving athletes were named to the SEC Community Service Team. Julia Burroughs and Nick Stone were announced as members of the conference Community Service Team in an announcement on Monday.
Burroughs was a member of the 2025 VOLeaders Academy. Student-athletes admitted into the VOLeaders Academy learn how to be a positive force for their team, campus, and local and global communities. In Brazil, Pawlik volunteered her time to various charitable organizations, including Vida Corrida, Meninas em Campo, Mempodera, Gol de Letra, Empodera, Gol Girls.
Gol Girls is an institute that helps uplift girls in underserved communities in Brazil, using sport as a tool to open up positive opportunities for young women. Mempodera is an organization that promotes gender equality through sports and education, empowering youth and giving them lessons to help them strive to be the best version of themselves. Meninas em Campo offers young girls the opportunity to play soccer, offering a free program to more than 200 girls ages 9 to 17 while promoting health, social interaction, development of collective values, critical thinking skills and citizenship. Burroughs has also worked directly with Knox Area Rescue Ministries (KARM). KARM is a charity in the Knoxville-Area that works to help people struggling with homelessness, poverty, mental health, and addiction.
A three-time SEC Honor Roll member, Burroughs has already earned her undergraduate degree in kinesiology. Burroughs is currently earning her Master's degree in Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications (Master's), where she holds a 4.00 GPA. Burroughs was a Second Team All-SEC honoree in 2023, following a silver medal performance as a member of the 800 Free Relay team.
Stone has volunteered his time this year with multiple organizations. In addition to working with Knox Area Rescue Ministries (KARM), Stone has also worked with the organization Project LIVE. Project LIVE is an organization that provides services to adults 60 and older to help them remain in their homes and continue to live independently. Stone has also volunteered his time to local schools in the Knoxville community, including Annoor Academy and New Hopewell Community School.
Stone was also a member of the 2024 VOLeaders Academy, a program aimed to inspire student-athletes to use their influence and passion for sport to help enact change that transcends their athletic achievement. He went on their trip to South Africa and Botswana, where student-athletes get the opportunity to experience the culture and engage in sports-based community initiatives. On the trip, Nick and other student-athletes worked with many programs in the countries, including Egoli Youth Development, Panarama Football Club, Ithembelihle School, Elite Basketball Academy, Women and Sport Botswana.
The two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member Stone is currently earning a bachelor's degree in Sport Management. Stone earned All-American status in the Platform during his freshman campaign in 2023. Stone also earned SEC Freshman Diver of the Year and SEC All-Freshman Team honors in 2023 following a sixth place finish in the Platform.
