Mardjetko, Pickens Named Softball America Second Team All-Americans

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee pitchers Sage Mardjetko and Karlyn Pickens were named to the Softball America Second Team All-America squad, the outlet announced Tuesday.
Mardjetko has been dominant in the circle this season, posting a career-best 1.11 ERA with a 13-2 record. In 27 appearances, the junior has recorded a career-high 156 strikeouts across 113.1 innings pitched. During SEC play, she owns a conference-best 1.07 ERA with a 6-1 record and 64 strikeouts in 59 innings. She also tossed the first no-hitter of her career on Feb. 22 against Southern Illinois.
Pickens earned her third career Softball America All-America honor. The senior right-hander owns a 1.56 ERA overall and a 1.79 ERA in conference play. She has totaled 170 strikeouts in 30 appearances this season, including 84 against SEC opponents. Pickens ranks fifth in the SEC in ERA and sixth in strikeouts while sitting second nationally in hits allowed per seven innings at 3.18.
A six-time All-American, Pickens has earned recognition throughout her career from the NFCA, D1Softball and Softball America.
The honor marks the first All-America selection of Mardjetko's career. The junior from Lemont, Illinois, was also named first-team All-SEC and earned SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors this season.
