Simpson Named Third Team All-American by Golfweek and GCAA
June 10, 2026 | Men's Golf
The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and Golfweek each revealed their annual All-American honorees on Wednesday afternoon, with Tennessee's Lance Simpson earning Third Team All-American recognition from both organizations.
Â
The Vols' star senior closes his Tennessee career by becoming just the seventh individual in program history to earn multiple All-American honors, joining the likes of David Skinns, Jim Gallagher Jr., and Spencer Cross. Simpson was also named an All-American Honorable Mention by both organizations in 2025. By earning a place on the All-America Third Team in 2026, he becomes the first Vol golfer to earn an All-American distinction higher than Honorable Mention since Caleb Surratt was named a First Team All-American in 2023.
Â
Simpson etched his name all over the Tennessee record book during the 2025-26 season. The Knoxville, Tennessee, native closed his final campaign with a 70.11 season scoring average, the third-best mark in program history. Additionally, Simpson's 71.11 career scoring average ranks third in program history. His 26 rounds of par or better during the 2025-26 season is the second-highest tally in program history, while his 80 career rounds of par or better are also second in program history.
Â
A major highlight of a memorable final collegiate season for Simpson was his first individual victory at the Pauma Valley Invitational, where the Vols also claimed the team title. At the Puerto Rico Classic in February, Simpson matched the fourth-best 54-hole score in program history, shooting 14-under-par to finish in fifth place. In his final appearance with Tennessee, Simpson earned Tennessee's best individual finish at the NCAA Championships since 2013, tying for eighth place at 8-under-par.
Â
The All-American honor is the cherry on top of a host of accolades for Simpson this season, as he was previously named to the All-SEC Second Team and the PING All-Southeast Region Team. Additionally, Simpson concluded the season ranked No. 11 in the PGA TOUR University rankings, securing membership on the PGA TOUR Americas through the end of the season.
