Lady Vols Close in Fourth, Messimer Claims Top-Five Finish at Canadian Collegiate Invitational

AURORA, Ontario - The Tennessee women's golf team concluded its second tournament of the Fall season on Tuesday with round three of the Canadian Collegiate Invitational contested at Beacon Hall Golf Club.
The course conditions proved tough North of the border on Tuesday as the Lady Vols shot a 17-over-par 305 in round three. Tennessee closed the tournament in fourth place among the 11-team field at 28-over-par, earning a second consecutive top-five team finish to open the season. A dominant opening two rounds saw Virginia cruise to the team championship at 1-over-par, finishing 17 strokes ahead of runner-up Auburn.
Despite competing as an individual this week, Madison Messimer posted the highest finish by a Lady Vol at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational, tying for fourth place at 1-under-par. The sophomore fired a third-round 1-under-par 71 to conclude as one of just four golfers in the 60-player field with a 54-hole score under par. Messimer finished just four strokes behind the individual champion.
Sophie Christopher used a strong third round to earn the highest individual finish among Tennessee's team lineup. The junior carded a 2-under-par 70, the second lowest round by a Lady Vol this week, to climb to a final tally of 3-over-par. With a tie for sixth place, Christopher owns two consecutive top-ten finishes to open her 2026-27 campaign.
Kyra Van Kan and Sofie Engesæth were the other two Lady Vols to close the Canadian Collegiate with top-15 individual finishes. Van Kan fired a 4-over-par 76 to bring her final tally to 8-over-par. After shooting even-par over the opening 36 holes, Engesæth closed with an 8-over-par 80 to fall to an 8-over-par 54-hole score. Despite the scores over par, the duo tied for 11th place, marking a second consecutive top-25 finish to open the season for Engesæth.
Freshman Tanjira Issaraphon wrapped up the countable scoring for the Tennessee lineup in round three, shooting a 7-over-par 79. She closed her first collegiate event tied for 44th place at 20-over-par.
Tennessee's next official tournament will be on home soil as the team hosts the annual Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate, Oct. 4-6 at Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, Tennessee.
