Vols Lead Georgia 42-31 at Halftime

KNOXVILLE -- Scooter McFadgon scored 14 points to lead Tennessee to a 42-31 halftime advantage in the Southeastern Conference opener for both teams Wednesday.
McFadgon connected on just 3-of-7 from the field, but was 3-of-5 from three-point range in his first SEC game.
Georgia jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but the Vols quickly responded with a 14-0 run of their own, highlighted by a three-point play by Jemere Hendrix and a three-pointer by McFadgon.
The Bulldogs went 5:27 without a basket before Damien Wilkins ended the drought with a jumper at the 12:45 mark.
The Vols led by as many as 19 in the first half. Tennessee led 35-20 following a Justin Albrecht three-pointer, but Wilkins canned consecutive three-pointers to close the gap to 35-26 with 3:27 remaining. Georgia cut the margin to 36-30 with 1:24 to go
Tennessee limited Georgia to just 38 percent shooting (11-of-29) from the field in the first half. The Vols shot 48 percent, but were 6-of-9 (.667) from three-point distance.
