What "un-SEC" football teams does Tennessee have scheduled
for
the 2006, 2007, and 2008 seasons?
Thanks!
GO VOLS!!!
Donnovan Young
Roanoke, VA
Mike Hamilton: Thanks for your e-mail. Non-conference opponents
for the 2006, 2007 and 2008 seasons feature Marshall, Memphis, Southern Miss,
Central Florida,
NC
State,
UCLA, San Jose State, Wyoming and an opponent we will announce in the next
several weeks.
Will the University of Tennessee ever have a Men's Soccer
team?
Gary Cunningham
Powell, Tennessee
Mike Hamilton: Thanks for your e-mail. Our hope is to add men's soccer at some
point. The decision is largely driven by dollars. To add a men's sport we
must also
add a women's sport program for gender equity purposes. Each sport costs
between $500,000 and $1 million to add due to scholarships, travel, salaries,
etc. Soccer makes the most sense to add as it is played at all high schools
in Tennessee. Only three SEC institutions currently have men's soccer- Kentucky,
Vanderbilt and South Carolina. Should finances allow, I would hope we could
do something within the next five years.
Greetings AD Hamilton from the Rocky Mountains. I recently saw a picture on
this web site from a football practice. Some of the players were wearing
Navy jerseys, that I thought looked great with the
Power T on the helmets. Any chance we could see an alternate game jersey in
Navy for the future? Kind of like Notre Dame's Green jerseys. Thanks for your
time.

Mike Hamilton: Thanks for your e-mail. The football scout team wears different color jerseys each week thus the blue jerseys in the picture you saw. While I don't think navy jerseys are in the cards yet, we are investigating the possibility of wearing retro jerseys for a game next season. Thanks again and Go Vols- Mike
