Tennessee Leads No. 23 Vanderbilt 31-26 at Halftime

KNOXVILLE -- Scooter McFadgon scored 13 points in the first half to lead Tennessee to a 31-26 halftime advantage over No. 23 Vanderbilt at Thompson-Boling Arena.
McFadgon connected on 5-of-11 from the field in the first half and led the Vols' first-half rally after the Commodores enjoyed an early lead.
Vanderbilt led for most of the first 12 minutes, opening a 14-9 advantage on a Corey Smith layup with 13:57 remaining before the break.
McFadgon scored the Vols first seven points, connecting on both shots from the field, including a three-pointer and 2-of-2 at the free throw line.
Tennessee took its first lead (19-18) since the opening minute on a jumper by Brandon Crump at the 8:31 mark. Crump finished the half with six points.
Back-to-back baskets by McFadgon increased the Vols' margin to 28-23. UT opened a seven-point advantage, 30-23, on a Dane Bradshaw jumper with 3:21 remaining.
Vanderbilt shot just 30 percent (8-of-27) from the field in the first half. VU's leading scorer, Matt Freije, scored four points on 1-of-5 shooting. Ted Skuchas came off the bench to lead the Commodores with six points.
