Kentucky Leads Tennessee 41-28 at Halftime

KNOXVILLE -- Erik Daniels and Chuck Hayes scored 10 points each to lead Kentucky to a 41-28 halftime advantage over homestanding Tennessee.
Tennessee's Scooter McFadgon scored 19 first-half points to keep the Vols in the game. McFadgon connected on 6-of-10 from the field, while the rest of the Vols connected on just 2-of-16.
After two McFadgon free throws, UT trailed 22-18 with 7:42 remaining in the first half. From there, Kentucky went on a 16-4 run to build its biggest lead of the game (16) at 38-22.
Kentucky jumped out to a 10-0 advantage in the first three minutes before the Vols countered with a 9-1 run of their own to close the gap to 11-9. UT held the Cats without a field goal for over four minutes during the run.
The Wildcats increased their margin to 20-10, but McFadgon answered by scoring six of the Vols' next eight points to cut the lead to 22-18.
Tennessee finished the first half shooting just 31 percent from the field, while Kentucky connected on 46 percent (13-of-28).
Tennessee, which entered the game as the SEC's leading rebounding team, was outrebounded 27-13.
