University of Tennessee Athletics
Step Up - Q & A
Q: What is the STEP UP campaign and how does it differ from the VASF?
A: For the first time, The University of Tennessee
Athletic Department is undertaking a formal capital campaign, called STEP UP
- The Campaign for UT Athletic Facilities. The primary goal of the campaign
is to improve athletic facilities, cementing UT's current position as
an athletic powerhouse for decades to come. This is a major gift campaign focused
on raising money to help build new athletic facilities and improve existing
ones. Though a portion of VASF money does help with the maintenance and improvement
of our facilities, the majority of VASF funds is used for scholarship costs
and general operating expenses of the men's Athletic Department.
Q: If I make a $50,000 gift to the STEP UP campaign, would this qualify
me for VASF benefits such as tickets and parking?
A: No. Only donors who make annual gifts to the VASF
receive priority on ticket and parking benefits. However, a gift to the STEP
UP campaign (or any other athletic facility) does add points to the donor's
account. If the individual also is an active VASF donor, then the additional
points will help his/her VASF ranking.
Q: Will an annual gift to the VASF provide me with the priority to
purchase season basketball tickets for the Lady Vols?
A: No. The Athletic Departments for the men and women
at The University of Tennessee are separate. Anyone interested in obtaining
season tickets for any Lady Vols sport should contact the Lady Vols Boost-Her
Club. Boost-Her Club members are not eligible to receive VASF benefits.
Q: As an alumnus of The University of Tennessee, I made a $1,000 gift
to the College of Business. Does this gift make me eligible to receive priority
athletic benefits through the VASF?
A: No. The University's Alumni Development Office
provides ticket and parking benefits for donors to the University's academic
programs. These benefits are assigned according to criteria established by the
Alumni Development Office.
There are several ways to become a donor to the Volunteer Athletic Scholarship
Fund. To obtain donor benefits, it is important to complete your gift prior
to MARCH 1 of each year. Here are just a few of the ways to
support the Vols.
