Tennessee Cheerleaders
Our cheerleading program now consists of one varsity squad. Vols' cheerleaders cheer for all football, men's basketball and women's basketball games and comprise the national competition squad.
Our competition squad is one of the premier UCA squads in the country. The squad has earned paid bids out of the tough Southeast Region in every attempt since 1994.
Orlando, Fla. - Tennessee's cheer squad completed the final day of competition in fine fashion as they outperformed all but one at the Universal Cheerleading National Championships held at the Walt Disney Wide World of Sports Complex this past Sunday sponsored by Universal Cheerleading Association, Universal Dance Association and Varsity.
Orlando, Fla. - On the final night of competition at the 2005 UCA/UDA National Championships one of Tennessee's own was honored for his contributions to the growth of the spirit groups at Tennessee. And fittingly Col. Gene Moeller's name will be etched on a plaque each year as UCA recognizes a university administrator who has made an impact on the collegiate level of cheerleading, dance and mascots.
The main purpose of the tryout is to select the best overall representatives of the University of Tennessee. This factor, as well as demonstrated technical skills, aids the coaches in choosing the best all-around members for each team. During the weekend clinic, the coaching staff makes several cuts with the assistance of collegiate coaches until all of the final teams are selected.
