Hamilton Addresses Vol Fans Regarding Football Season Ticket Allocation Change
April 6, 2004
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS | FACT SHEET | CHART
Dear Vol Fans,
I wanted to make you aware of a few changes we are making to our season ticket allocation system as it relates to non-donor or grandfathered season ticket holders.
Over the years, the two-tiered system of donor and non-donor season ticket holders has prompted confusion and a sense of disparity, especially among the 10,000 VASF donors who have contributed over $170 million to UT for athletics since 1986.
Beginning with the 2004 football season, we will be making changes to our grandfathered ticket policy for non-donors. These change will effect approximately 1,000 current grandfathered season ticket holders.Grandfathered ticket holders with sideline seats (sections A, B, C, AA, BB, CC, R, S, T, U, V, W, RR, SS, TT, UU, VV, and WW) may retain a maximum of two sideline non-donation (grandfathered) seats. All other sideline seats will require a minimum annual per seat contribution. Grandfathered season ticket holders who do not choose to join the VASF will be able to retain the option to purchase the same number of season tickets that they currently have without a required donation. These season tickets will be reassigned to the best available seating in the north and south end zones. Effective with the 2006 football season all sideline seats will require a minimum contribution.
No one will be kicked out of Neyland Stadium. This phased approach will provide grandfathered season ticket holders with sideline seats several options:
- They have the opportunity to keep two non-donor tickets in their current location and move the rest to an endzone location.
- They can join the VASF at an annual contribution rate that is approximately 20% - 35% of ?market value?.
- They can transfer (at the current donation level) their sideline seats into a child or grandchild?s name, which gives them an opportunity to take care of the next generation.
- They can move their seats to an endzone location without making a donation.
We hope this change will allow our VASF donors to have access to our most popular seats as well as provide us with additional funds to put toward much needed renovations to Neyland Stadium over the next 15-20 years as we prepare to celebrate its 100th birthday in 2021.
If you have questions about this change, please call the VASF office at (865) 974-1218.
Thanks for your continued support of Tennessee athletics! |
