April 20, 2004
Although the school year is winding down, the athletic department is gearing up for a busy season.
Our spring sports are in full swing with April looking to be an eventful month. Our baseball and softball teams are both ranked in the top 20 nationally, the golf and tennis teams are gearing up for the SEC championships, and track and field is preparing to host the 38th annual Sea Ray Relays at Tom Black Stadium April 7-10.
Football season may be months away, but preparations for the season are well underway. Spring practice is underway, and the Orange and White football game is slated for Saturday, April 17. The festivities will begin at 1 p.m. with an autograph signing session, followed by the scrimmage at 3 p.m. It's a good opportunity for UT fans to come out for a preview of the 2004 season.
Our coaches and staff will be out and about this spring as well. The Big Orange Caravan rolls out April 19 and will run through May 27. This year we've made a few changes to the caravan to give our fans the opportunity to have more interaction with the coaches and former players. Among the changes you'll see is the addition of mall visits in five cities as well as various community activities. Highlighting the mall visits will be games for children and an autograph signing session with fan favorites including Coach Fulmer, Coach Peterson, Coach Summitt, Bob Kesling and former athletes. The mall events are free, and are a great way for our coaches to get out and meet the fans that fill our stadium and arena each season. We hope you'll be able to come out for one of the stops.
Just a reminder for our football season ticket holders, renewals for the 2004 football season will be mailed and available online in early April. The deadline for renewals is April 30.
I hope to see you at some of our spring sporting events.
Expect to win! |
