June 8, 2004
The University of Tennessee announced the appointment of Chris Fuller as Assistant Athletics Director for Sales and Marketing for both the men's and women's athletics departments.
Fuller, who begins his new position June 14, will be responsible for cultivating corporate partner relationships, developing and implementing season ticket and group sales programs, and developing marketing and promotional plans for men's and women's athletics.
"We are thrilled to have someone with Chris' accomplished background in collegiate athletics joining our team," said Joan Cronan, women's athletics director. "In the past, we have had separate marketing directors for men's and women's athletics. This newly combined position will allow us to build synergy between the two departments."
Most recently, Fuller served as a consultant for the Mid-American Conference, Bowling Green State University and Troy State University. Prior to that, he served as vice president of collegiate marketing for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Gund Arena, where he led the formation of Gund Sports Marketing business unit.
During his career, Fuller has also served as director of university development for The Official College Sports Network (OCSN), director of business operations and director of university services for ACC Properties, and assistant to senior associate athletic director and assistant sports marketing director at the University of North Carolina.
"Chris' experience both in a college and a conference setting will be very beneficial for Tennessee athletics as we look to the future," said Mike Hamilton, men's athletics director. "He has a proven track record in all aspects of marketing that makes him a tremendous asset to both departments."
Fuller earned a bachelor's degree in 1988 from Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, W. Va., and a master's degree in 1992 from West Virginia University.
