VOLS PILE UP WINS AND CAREER BEST MARKS AT FLORIDA AND HOME
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Tennessee's Blake Sabo notched wins in the 110M hurdles (15.45) and javelin (185-4) to lead the Vols at the Florida Field Events Invitational on Sunday afternoon. Additionally, Tyler Garrett won the shot put with a season- best, provisional qualifier of 59-4. Rocky Danners took top honors in the triple jump (43-8), the first time he's competed in the event this year.
"We did get some things done here," head coach Bill Webb said. "We helped our decathletes get tuned up for conference. Each of our throwers had a lifetime best this weekend. I'm proud of the guys who continued to improve and get ready for conference."
In addition to his season-best mark in the shot put, Garrett also had a career-best discus distance of 180-5 to finish runner-up in that event. Tennessee took seven of the top 10 spots in the discus. Sabo also took runner-up honors with a season-best triple jump of 40-4 3/4. Lance Jauron contributed a personal-best 183-9 to take second in the hammer.
