When Keith Walls of Chattanooga came to Neyland Stadium today in Orange and White Tennessee jersey No. 21, he was hoping for the Vols to win and for Cedric Houston to have a big day. He was right on both counts, but what happened around 2:30 p. m. at Gate 21 was even better. Walls, who works as a lead man in plates and sheet bay at Siskin Steel in his hometown, became the second of seven Tennessee "Volunteer Fan of the Game." Completing the trifecta, Houston rushed 26 times for 160 yards, and the Vols prevailed, 34-24 over Marshall.. "I've been coming to games here the last five years or so, and, when they chose me, I didn't know what was going on," Walls said. "I'm wearing Cedric Houston's jersey, but we also pull for Gerald Riggs from Red Bank. We watched him in high school and have kept up with him." His son, Justin, who also wore a No. 21 Tennessee jersey, his soon-to-be sister-in-law, Ginger Young, and Justin's friend, Joey Shiraef, accompanied him. The grand prize winner, to be selected at the Vanderbilt game Nov. 22, receives a Sea Ray 185 Sport Bow Rider, a Toyota Tundra truck courtesy of Volunteer Toyota dealers, two season tickets to all UT athletic events for 2004, $250 in gift certificates from each sponsor, and the opportunity to run through the "T." | ||
